Videos Information
Over the last few decades, I have acquired a few media files and kept that helps when diagnosing a motor vehicle. There is a basic concept when it comes to a gas combustion engine, if your degas bottle boils like kettle…..have your head gasket(s) checked.
Valve Cover Gaskets
Valve Cover is a seal make of rubber or plastic that sits between the engine and the valve cover. It prevents oil from escaping the engine and reducing your oil level. If they are leaking, you might be damaging your ignition coil boots and other external components. If the oil is hot and leaks onto electrical components, you shorten that components life.
So instead of replacing your valve cover gaskets, you are replacing an alternator, starter and anything else that the leaking oil damaged during the leak.
Leaking Head Gasket(s)
A leaking head gasket is critical to your engine operation. Your cooling system operates at a certain operating temperature. If you can confirm in the video, it has past that operating range and will start to cook or melt your radiator cooling hoses and more. Wherever there is a concern, please have a certified mechanic look at your vehicle. The prevents too much running around and wasted resources. It’s a bad day when you spend hundreds of your hard earn cash buying and have components installed that will just end up destroyed.
Frozen Caliper Guide Pins
Your caliper are metal pins on a bake caliper that guide the brake pad’s angle as it meets the disc. They also help keep the brake caliper aligned and stable while braking. So, if one side of your brake pads are wearing out prematurely, you can have a mechanic remove your guide pins and have them lubricated.
The best way to resolve the mention concern, is to replace your calipers the next time you have your brake pads replace. If possible, try to have a complete brake job done. So, this includes the caliper unit, brakes pads and your rotors replaced.
